there are many aspects of the uses of 'Body Language' for example: if you bite your nails is because you're nervous or because you aren't confident if you move your head when someone is talking, it indicates that you're affirming or denying what the other person is saying. if you move your legs when you're waiting for something, it means that you're impatient or nervous...
Consistent eye contact can indicate that a person is thinking positively of what the speaker is saying. It can also mean that the other person doesn't trust the speaker enough to "take their eyes off" the speaker. Lack of eye contact can indicate negativity. On the other hand, individuals with anxiety disorders are often unable to make eye contact without discomfort. Eye contact can also be a secondary and misleading gesture because cultural norms about it vary widely. If a person is looking at you, but is making the arms-across-chest signal, the eye contact could be indicative that something is bothering the person, and that he wants to talk about it. Or if while making direct eye contact, a person is fiddling with something, even while directly looking at you, it could indicate that the attention is elsewhere. Also, there are three standard areas that a person will look which represent different states of being. If the person looks from one eye to the other, then to the forehead, it is a sign that they are taking an authoritative position. If they move from one eye to the other, then to the nose, that signals that they are engaging in what they consider to be a "level conversation" with neither party holding superiority. The last case is from one eye to the other and then down to the lips. This is a strong indication of romantic feelings.
Pay attention to how physically close someone is to you. The closer they are, the warmer they are thinking of you. If you move slightly closer to them, do they move slightly further away? That means they don't want your interaction to be any more personal than it already is. If they don't move further away, then they are receptive. And if they respond by getting even closer to you, they probably really like you or are very comfortable around/by you.
Your hand gestures indicate a large number of things. At first slightly up and open palms are related with friendship and the desire to relate with another person and palms down are normally conected to dominance or distrust. These up and down gestures of palms are of great importance when you are shaking hand with the other person. It is always better to offer an upright and vertical handshake as it is considered as sign of equality.

People who are anxious, nervous or fearful often avoid making direct eye-contact. Instead, they may seem to look at the floor, at their hands or at their surroundings. Fear may also be indicated by a wide-eyed stare and unwavering eye contact.

I've been trying to comment many times but my comments were never published! I hope this to be published, haha. Body language can let us know about the feelings and thoughts of the persons we're interacting with, and also personality characteristics and things that sometimes we prefer to hide. For instance, to walk upright means security and self-confidence, to have the shoulders slumped often means difficulty to face some life situations, the head resting on hands or to look at the floor suggests boredom, to caress the jaw represents making decisions, to don't look at a person's eyes it's like "i don't care about you" or "i don't like you, to touch the nose slightly means to lie, to doubt or to reject something. These are some examples of the persons's body language.
Mariana, very interesting comment! You couldn't see your comment published straight away on the blog because it needs moderation, that's to say that I have to give my permission for it to get published. :)
Body language is how to read other thoughts by their gestures. The features of body language are: posture, head motion, facial expression, eye contact, gestures.
